TASTING CLASSES

We offer several different wine tasting themes to suit your preference. When booking your class, you will have the option to choose a Theme from the below wine class range, the quantity of wines for your tasting and the group size. Should you have additional requirements on a tasting class such as a preference for a particular grape variety or else, you have the option to specify this using the booking form.

Please note: Minimum quantity per booking: 5 people (prices are per person)

WHITE OVER RED

Exploring some very exciting white grape varieties: tasting, recognising and understanding the difference between individual varieties and analysing weight, flavours and their characteristics.

We will make a selection of some of the following: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Vinho Verde, Viognier, Bachus, Semillon, Colombard, Grüner Veltliner, Jurancon, Albariño, Trebbiano, Silvaner, Marsanne, Roussanne, Piquepoul, Muscadelle, Muscadet, Gewürztraminer, Verdicchio*. You will also smell some extraordinary scents and fragrances found in these grapes that will take you on a new scent journey.

FOUR DARKS IN RED

A guided tasting of some very different red grape varieties. We will make you taste your way through the individual main characteristics between some of the best know varieties.

You will be able to taste some of the following grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Malbec, Merlot, Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, Primitivo, Sangiovese, Syrah/Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Tannat, Montepulciano, Tempranillo, Nero d’Avola, Trollinger, Barbera, Carmenère, Pinotage*. Once you’ve tasted these wines next to each other you will identify which varieties you prefer and why.

WHITE+ROSÉ+RED-HOUSE

An interesting mix of white, rosé and red wines showcasing the full spectrum of a grape’s chameleonic capability.

You will compare the levels of acidity, fruitiness, tannins and flavour characteristics across these wines and will be able to understand how the differences in production of each wine type results in ultimate differences in taste. You can specify preferences of

MR STEELY + MR WOODY

A combination of white, rosé and red wines with brilliant examples that show clean expressions of either production and ageing method, in either oak wine barrels or stainless steel wine drums. Each method of fermentation and maturing the wine is perhaps amongst the most important aspects of creating outstanding wines. We compare both methods and will look at pros and cons of either method.

GRAPE TOUR

Many grape varieties that originate from one location, are now grown across the globe. What happens to it in different corners of the world? We are tasting how climate, soil and different wine making techniques impact the style and taste of the same variety*.

I SEE NO GOOD REASON TO ACT MY AGE

This tasting class focuses on young, middle aged and older vintages: what happens to the three main elements - tannins, sweetness and acidity - in a wine over time?  

We will learn what a wine tastes that is past its summit and we will be finding flavours of new and old oak in both young and aged wines. We’ll also investigate how young tannins can show very differently in lighter and heavier wines. Our course will consider all the main characteristics of the wine you want to buy.

Shock of the new tasting

THE SHOCK OF THE NEW

In this synopsis on natural and biodynamic wines, we are tasting and exploring if there are real differences in taste between conventional wine making methods and some cutting edge producers.

RISING SPARKLES

A tasting of non-Champagnes, some of which come surprisingly close to a real Champagne.

Wines may include: Cava, Cremant de Loire, Cremant de Burgogne, Cremant de Limoux, German Sekt, English sparkling wine and Prosecco and New World Sparkling wines.

CHAMPAGNES-CAMPAIGN

You will explore different styles of Champagnes and find out how Vintage Champagnes compare against Non Vintage ones. You will investigate style differences between a Blanc de Noirs, a Blanc de Blancs or a Classic Cuvée.

Moet et Chandon, Laurent Perrier, and Veuve Cliquot are perhaps the best known exports from this iconic region of France, but there are lots of other producers making equally complex, interesting wines today. This tasting we'll exploring champagnes, produced by big and small independent producers that use organic and biodynamic practices, and make some of the most exciting and precise Champagnes available today.

WITH LOVE FROM BORDEAUX

You will taste Bordeaux blends from across the globe including of course some prime left and right bank examples from the epicenter of Bordeaux blends: Bordeaux! We will make sure to expose your palate to different vintages and exposing you to some wines with different Merlot – Cabernet Sauvignon ratios. An exciting world trip without travelling!

TASTE: WHAT IS YOURS?

Knowledge influences your taste: which part of it can be measured in quality and is tangible, and which part is subjective and personal? Knowing the basics of rating a wine to get to know your unique taste is empowering.
